For HR & Associate Reps

Are you a Human Resources Manager interested in offering Retirement 101® to your employees?  Retirement 101® is an ideal way to prepare your employees for retirement and help them make all the lifestyle and financial decisions necessary.

We've prepared the following frequently asked questions for Human Resource Managers to make it easier to find out more about the program. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or would like to discuss hwo you can offer this program within your company:

Are there any costs incurred by the company or association?

Typically, employees and members pay the course fee.  Occasionally, companies reimburse employees 50% upon successful completion of the course.

How does the program generate revenue?

Participants may choose to take advantage of an optional, complimentary fifth session – a personal session with the investment advisor. Some participants eventually become clients of the investment advisor.

What is the role of the HR team or association executives in organizing of a program?

The Retirement 101® Program team handle all logistical aspects of the course, including registration, communication reminders, distribution of course material and post-course follow-up. We can also handle the financial transactions for the course fee.

We ask HR team or association executives to help us effectively communicate with employees or members and to provide a location for the course and possibly refreshments.

What is the maximum number of course participants the program can accommodate?

Because the course is interactive we like to keep the numbers between 10 and 50.

Can the program be offered as a lunch and learn session?

With the amount of content and insight that is shared throughout the course, we recommend that it be executed two lunch hours per week.  This will be sufficient time each week to get the program effectively delivered to your employees.

Is this program similar to one that is provided by our group plan provider?

No. This program focuses on the lifestyle needs, retirement psychology and overall issues and concerns facing the retirement stage of life.

The group plan provider update is just that – an update on your group plan, highlighting how the plan is doing financially with no discussion or connection to retirement income modelling.

This program is excellent as an “add on” to the group plan provider presentation.

Are spouses/partners required to attend?

While it is not required that you attend with your spouse or partner, we strongly encourage couples to attend together in order to get the most out of the course material.

Does the program need to be offered once a week? Is there flexibility to this?

Yes, there is some flexibility in the course schedule. We recommend at least one week between modules in order to retain the most information. However, if course participants are comfortable with a tighter schedule, we can offer two modules back-to-back or during the same week. Please note that each module is two hours in length.
